Tips for checking light entrepreneur’s pre-filled tax return

The 2019 tax returns will arrive for review by April at the latest. Here’s our tips for checking pre-filled tax return in MyTax online service or on paper.

Tax returns arrive to MyTax in random order. All tax returns are available in MyTax by April 3rd and sent by mail by the end of April.

  • If your tax return does not require any changes, you do not need to do anything.
  • If you are making changes to your tax return, the deadline is either May 5th, May 12th, or May 19th, 2020. You can check the date from your personal tax return and from MyTax.
  • You can correct your tax return information in MyTax online service or on paper.

Here’s Tax Administration’s guidelines:

Eezy extranet provides a convenient annual summary of Eezy’s service fees, accident insurance, employer’s health insurance payments, and tax-related travel expenses deducted from your salary.

1. Taxable travel expenses, i.e. withholding tax free travel expenses

If you have been paid taxable travel expenses, you may deduct them as expenses for the production of income in your own taxation. From Eezy extranet under My Profile, you can print out an annual summary (pdf) of your tax-paid travel expenses. It lists all tax-paid travel expenses separately. The last line of the summary shows the totals for the year, which is often enough for a tax return. However, save the summary in case the Tax Administration would ask for more details about the travel expenses.

2. The YEL insurance payments

The YEL insurance payments you have made are tax deductible either in your personal or in your spouse’s taxation. YEL payments can be reported on your tax return through MyTax (section: Statutory pension insurance contributions for non-wage income) or optionally on paper (Form 50A section 8.2 Statutory pension insurance contributions for non-wage income).

3. Eezy service fee, accident insurance payment and employer’s health insurance payment

Eezy’s service fee, accident insurance payment, and employer’s health insurance payment are tax-deductible expenses, so you can deduct them in your own taxation.

From Eezy extranet under My Profile, you can print out an annual summary (pdf) that separately lists all Eezy’s service fees, accident insurance payments and employer’s health insurance payments withheld from your salary. The last line of the summary shows the totals for the year, which is often enough for a tax return. However, save a summary in case the Tax Administration would ask for more details about the deductions.

4. Other expenses for the production of income

If you have been paid expenses through Eezy as tax free reimbursements of expenses, they are no longer reported as deductions on the tax return. For more information about expenses for the production of income and deduction rights, you can find from Tax Administration’s website: Expenses for the production of income from earnings. If the work-related expenses are not reported to Eezy, or are not accepted through Eezy, you can report the expenses in your personal tax return.

The expenses for the production of income mentioned below can be reported in MyTax or with the form 50A section 8.4 Expenses incurred in acquiring or maintaining wage income.

  • Home office deduction
  • Professional literature, research tools and scientific literature
  • Purchase, servicing and repair of tools
  • The cost of purchasing a computer and peripherals
